NON-SURGICAL BREAST AUGMENTATION
Macrolane is a soft, clear gel filler consisting of a substance called hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is found naturally in the body and gives tissues such as the skin, joints, and the eyes support. Macrolane is "cross-linked" hyaluronic acid, so it is a bit thicker than the same molecules found in the body. As such, it is ideal for adding volume to areas of the body that have lost volume, or require augmentation. It has been used effectively for non-surgical breast augmentation for several years.
WHAT HAPPENS DURING THE PROCEDURE?
At Venus Medical we have years of experience using Macrolane for breast enhancement. The procedure is performed under local anaesthesia and takes less than one hour. A tiny puncture is made and the filler is placed behind the breast gland and in front of the chest muscle. This is a commonly used site for a surgical breast implant, and provides natural-looking projection of the breast. Following the procedure, a support bra should be worn for a week. Results are instant.
HOW MUCH AUGMENTATION CAN BE ACHIEVED?
Non-surgical breast augmentation with Macrolane provides a natural-looking volume enhancement: usually an increase by 1 cup size is achieved. This requires about 100-120ml of filler per breast.
HOW LONG DO RESULTS LAST?
Macrolane is a biocompatible, non-permanent filler, so it is broken down naturally by the body over time. Although its longevity in tissues varies from person to person, a top-up is usually required after about a year to maintain aesthetic results. Often, some filler still remains more than two years after the procedure.
AM I SUITABLE?
If you are an A cup and want to increase to B, or B and want to increase to C, and have no significant health problems, you might be suitable for Macrolane non-surgical breast augmentation. Suitability is determined during your consultation with Dr Prendergast. Patients aged over 40 years are advised to have a routine check mammogram before the procedure.
